How to recommit to working out: 3 easy steps
Taking a little time off from exercising can turn into weeks, months and before you know it, it's been years. How do you get back into the game? As I always tell all my returning clients: start small. Baby steps. It took time to get out of shape, so allow time to get back into shape. The beautiful thing is though that your body has muscle memory and you get back faster than you might think.
Step 1: get a workout buddy and make a plan to meet up. Doing it together is so much easier than by yourself! Plus, you are much more likely to stick with it because you combine exercise with social time.
Step 2: start simple. Go for a walk around the block of your neighborhood. Then add some easy doable moves using just your bodyweight. Look for some great examples on my ‘core’ ‘booty’ and ‘Weightloss’ page or do moves you remember. Compound moves like squats and lunges are my favorite because they accomplish multiple things at once: cardio, muscle work, balance and stability. Love that.
Step 3: set a goal and track your progress. I love using the app ‘myfitnesspal’. You can select the time frame (let’s say 3 months), how much weight you want to lose (let’s say 15 lbs) and select different fitness and activity levels. It will give you a daily calorie amount suggestion to achieve your goal. Pretty cool, right? You got this! Buddy up and get to work. I’m here to help you.
